Two of the most iconic Australian foods, and two of my favorites, are meat pies and Vegemite on toast. Meat pies come with many different varieties of filling. The most popular include minced beef, cheese and bacon, pepper steak, tomato and onion, potato, and curried chicken. Almost every town has a bakery, and nearly all bakeries sell meat pies.
Vegemite on toast is usually eaten for breakfast in the morning. The amount of butter and vegemite used depends on the person. My favorite way is to use a generous amount of real butter and then a minute amount of vegemite. The butter's richness and the vegemite's salty kick are a perfect match.
